Live-In Program



In order to be eligible to apply to the Live-In Program, potential candidates shall meet the following requirements

  1. Be at least 18 years old
  2. Be an active member in good standing of a fire department
  3. Maintain an address outside the boundaries of normally accepted non-live-in applications
  4. Be a full time student (12 credits per semester) and maintain a 2.5 GPA in an approved college/university
  5. Completed the Basic Fire Fighting Training course as outlined by NFPA 1001 Level 1 (Firefighter I) or equivalent prior to acceptance into the program, unless otherwise approved by the Fire Chief and Company President

Program Information

The Long Hill Fire Department is one of 3 volunteer FD's located in the Town of Trumbull.  The LHFD averages 700 runs each year.  As a member of the Fire Company, you are eligible for the following:

  • Uniforms
  • Free training
  • Incentive Programs

Facility Information

The Live-In Program is housed at the new Long Hill Station #2 located at 5400 Main Street, which is located about a half a mile north of the Merritt Parkway.  This brand new, state of the art facility has many amenities, including:

  • High Speed, Wireless Internet
  • Dormitory style bunkrooms with separate restroom facilities
  • Additional storage lockers located outside each bunkroom
  • Large, open concept kitchen area with private refrigerators and cupboards for Live-In Members
  • Fitness area access
  • Free Parking (1 Vehicle)
  • Convenient access to Westfield Shoppingtown, Metro North Rail, Port Jefferson Ferry, GBTA Bus Lines
