MONROE BATTLES ANOTHER FIRE, LONG HILL PROVIDES COVERAGE
1/28/2008- At 10:37 hrs, Long Hill was called in to the town of Monroe for town coverage. Engine 206 stood by at Stepney Station 1 until 13:52 when they were relieved by a returning Stepney engine. Monroe fire departments was fighting a fire on Hunter Ridge Road. The Long Hill crew did not take in any Monroe calls.
LONG HILL COVERS MONROE, TAKES IN GARAGE FIRE
1/22/2008- At 5:09 hrs, an engine from Long Hill was requested to stand by at Stepney Station 1 for town coverage (units were operating at a house fire on Harmony Lane). Engine 206 & LH-4 responded with traffic for the standby assignment. Upon arrival at the Stepney Firehouse, Monroe FD was toned out for a reported garage fire on Wheeler Road. E-206 responded with Engine 52 from White Hills (who was covering the Stevenson section of town) to find a 20 x 20 wood shed well off with an exposure to the garage. The out of town units along with other available units from Monroe put a quick stop to the fire and protected the exposure. Engine 206 was released and back in town in just over 3 hours. WHITNEY AVE ROLLOVER
1/19/2008- At 23:07 hrs, Long Hill was dispatched to Whitney Avenue & the Indian Ledge Park entrance for the reported MVA rollover. Rescue 200 & Engine 206 responded to find a single car on its roof with no entrapment. Crews stabilized the vehicle, cleaned a minor fluid spill & awaited the wrecker. EARLY MORNING ROUTE 25 ROLLOVER
1/15/2008- At 5:21 hrs, Long Hill was dispatched to Route 25 Southbound prior to Exit 9 for the MVA rollover. Rescue 200 responded to find a single SUV down an embankment but on all 4 tires. R-200 and Squad 209 stood by on scene to provide traffic safety for the wrecker to remove the vehicle.
BROADBRIDGE AVE STRUCTURE FIRE
1/8/2008- At
07:20hrs,
Trumbull Center,
Nichols
and Long Hill were dispatched to Broadbridge Road for a reported house
fire. Nichols Car 2 arrived first and reported a 2 1/2 Story House with
smoke showing. First in crews from Engine 301 & Engine 103 found fire in
the basement and 1st floor. Two lines were stretched into the basement and
the 1st floor knocking down the fire quickly. Ladder 204 arrived with 6
and assisted with ventilation, checking for extension and opening up while
LH-3 had interior operations. The fire was placed under control in 20
minutes and Long Hill units returned to service in one hour. (Photo
