. FEBRUARY '08 NEWS CAR FIRE ON MALL EXIT RAMP
2/28/2008- At
13:37hrs, Long Hill was dispatched to the Madison Ave exit from the
Trumbull Mall for a reported car fire. LH-3 arrived first and reported a
single vehicle with a fire in the engine compartment. Squad 209 stretched
a line and made quick work of the fire. Units cleared in 20 minutes.

SUDDEN ICY CONDITIONS CAUSE MULTIPLE ACCIDENTS
2/27/2008- At 20:48 hrs, Long Hill was dispatched to Route 25 Southbound for the motor vehicle accident rollover. A sudden snow storm had caused the roadways in the district to become ultra slick. With caution, Rescue 200 was first to arrive to find an SUV on its side on the edge of the highway. All occupants were out of the vehicle and Rescue 200 and LH-1 stood by to provide traffic support until the wrecker was able to take the vehicle. At the same time, Engine 206 traveled south and north on 25 due to multiple calls of motor vehicle accidents on the highway. No other major accidents were found.
After the rollover was clear, Rescue 200 traveled to the turnaround on Rte 25 in route back to quarters when they witnessed a pickup truck traveling northbound lose control and drive into the wooded median. Again R-200's crew checked on the driver (who was not hurt) and provided traffic support until the wrecker was able to remove the vehicle.
At 23:27 hrs, Long Hill and Trumbull Center were dispatched to the intersection of Main Street & Cottage street for the MVA/extrication with a possible car fire. Trumbull Car 2 was first to arrive and reported all occupants out of the cars with one vehicle's engine compartment well off. Squad 209 quickly extinguished the fire and stood by on scene until the roadway was cleared.
ONE EXTRICATED FROM 3 CAR MVA
2/20/08- At 08:51 hrs, LH-1 came across a 3 car MVA with injuries and 1 driver pinned in front of 5771 Main Street. Rescue 200, Engine 205 & Squad 209 arrived and extricated 1 driver in a mini van, assisted Trumbull EMS and handled all fluids. Units cleared about 30 min later.
MUTUAL AID TO MACARTHUR RD HOUSE FIRE
2/17/2008- At 9:04 hrs, Trumbull Center was dispatched to MacArthur Road for the reported Chimney Fire. TC Car 4 was first to arrive and reported heavy smoke showing from the roof and requested a structure fire assignment, sending Long Hill for mutual aid and Nichols for RIT. Engine 205 responded from the Hill and assisted Engine 101 with extinguishing the fire. During fire operations, Command (TC Car 2) requested manpower sending Engine 206 & Squad 209 to the scene. CAR LEAVES ROAD, PERFORMS HIGH-WIRE ACT
2/16/2008- At 15:42 hrs, Long Hill was dispatched to Madison Avenue & Driftwood Lane for a MVA rollover. LH-2 was first on scene and reported a single vehicle off the road, hanging from a telephone pole guide wire. LH-1, Rescue 200 & Squad 209 stood by on scene for safety reasons and waited for the wrecker to take the vehicle. (Photo courtesy of J. Bartoli)
CAR vs. TELEPHONE POLE ON ROUTE 111
2/10/2008- At 7:52 hrs, Long Hill was dispatched to Main Street @ Plymouth Avenue for the car vs. telephone pole with a fluid spill. LH-3 was first on scene and reported a single vehicle in the roadway and a telephone pole severely splintered. Engine 205 and Rescue 200 handled the spill and stabilized the vehicle for the wrecker. Trumbull EMS responded to evaluate the driver of the vehicle.
3 EXTRICATED FROM 5 CAR MVA
2/2/2008- At 9:02 hrs, Long Hill & Trumbull Center were dispatched to the intersection of Route 25 & Route 111 for a motor vehicle accident with a fluid spill and possible extrication. Rescue 200 was first to arrive and reported multiple vehicles involved in the accident with 3 victims trapped. R-200's crew extricated 2 victims from one vehicle. Rescue 100's crew extricated 1 victim from another vehicle. All other victims were out of their vehicles. Engine 206's crew stretched a handline and blanketed the scene with foam due to a large gasoline spill. Engine 205, Squad 209, LH-1, TC Car 1 & TC Car 4 assisted with scene operations.
