RANDALL DRIVE STRUCTURE FIRE

 

12/28/08- At 07:26hrs, Long Hill was dispatched to Randall Drive for a chimney fire. LH-4 arrived first reporting a 1 story ranch with light smoke showing. Upon further investigation fire was found to be in the walls around the wood stove. At 7:36hrs, Trumbull Center & Nichols was added for M/A and RIT. Engine 206 stretched a line to the room of origin while Squad 209 connected to a hydrant for water supply. Crews from Ladder 204, Squad 209, Rescue 200 & Engine 205 assisted with opening up walls and checking for extension. The fire was quickly knocked down and command held Long Hill units. The fire was placed under control at 7:56hrs.  LH-4 had command and LH-1 had operations.

 


 

ROLLOVER ON THE MERRITT

 

12/20/08- At 12:08 hrs,  Long Hill was dispatched to Route 15 south between exit 47-46 for a rollover. LH-4 arrived first and reported 1 car rolled over down into the woods. Upon further investigation the lone occupant was out of the vehicle. Engine 205 & Squad 209 checked for hazards and waited for the wrecker while EMS checked out the patient. (Photo courtesy of J. CAR FIRE AT THE MALL

 

12/16/2008- At 9:18 hrs, Long Hill & Trumbull Center were dispatched to the Westfield Shoppingtown for a reported car fire.  LH-3 was first on scene to report heavy fire in engine compartment with initially 3 exposures. Squad 209 was the first engine to arrive and extinguished fire. 2 Trumbull Police Officers on scene used several extinguishers to keep fire in check which protected exposures before FD arrival. Rescue 200 assisted in overhaul. LH-3 had command. TC-103 stood by on scene. (Picture courtesy of A. Rauso)

 


 

STRUCTURE FIRE ON STERLING ROAD

 

12/11/2008- At 19:56 hrs, Long Hill as primary, Trumbull Center as M/A and Nichols as RIT were dispatched to Sterling Road for a structure fire. Trumbull Car 4 arrived first and reported a 1 story ranch with heavy smoke showing from the rear. Engine 206 was the first arriving engine took the hydrant, stretched a line, found a fire in the basement and knocked it down quickly. Squad 209 was assigned to primary searches, opening up and checking for extension in the fire area. Engine 101 stretched a 2nd line while Tower assisted with the searches. Quint 303 was assigned RIT. Units cleared the scene in under 2 hours.
 


 

CAR vs. SCHOOL BUS ON MONROE TURNPIKE

 

12/4/2008- At 16:48 hrs, Long Hill, Trumbull Center & Nichols were dispatched to Route 111 near Trefoil Drive for a accident with possible extrication. First arriving units reported a pickup truck vs. school bus with the occupant in the truck needing extrication. Due to the nature of this incident numerous ambulances from around the area were sent to the scene in case they were needed.  Units were on scene for an extended period of time until the accident could be cleaned up.
