FULLY INVOLVED SHED FIRE

 

8/23/2007- At 19:51hrs, Long Hill was dispatched to High Ridge Rd for a shed on fire. LH-2 arrived first and reported a 15x15 shed fully involved. Engine 206 grabbed a hydrant across the street, stretched an attack line and along with Ladder 204's crew and LH-1 extinguished the fire and overhauled. Engine 205 also arrived on scene but was not used. All units cleared in one hour.
 


 

3 ACCIDENTS ON THE MERRITT IN 15 MINUTES

 

8/8/2007- At 7:22hrs, Long Hill and Trumbull Center were dispatched to Route 15 Northbound at Exit 49N for a MVA with entrapment. Squad 209 arrived first and reported one car into a tree with the driver trapped. Engine 205 arrived next and stretched a protection line while 209's crew went to work popping the driver's door. The driver was suffering from a serious head injury. S-209's crew along with the Trumbull Paramedic worked to control bleeding and removed the patient once a Nelson Ambulance arrived. While crews were working this accident, a second accident was dispatched to Route 15 Southbound near Exit 50 for a rollover with 4 injuries.  That was followed by a third accident just north Exit 49 on the Northbound side. Rescue 100 was released from the original accident, and along with Rescue 200 and Rescue 300, controlled the additional accidents. SUNDAY MORNING LIVE FIRE TRAINING

 

8/5/2007- At 8:00, crews from all 3 stations and 1 engine from Trumbull Center met at an acquired house on Churchill Road for a live fire exercise.  Crews were formed and assigned the tasks of fire attack, backup and RIT.  The crews rotated between the tasks in 5 fire evolutions.  The house was donated to Trumbull Center and all three departments in town will be using the house for various training exercises throughout the rest of the month.

 


 

ACCIDENT ON MAIN STREET PART OF A BUSY DAY IN THE HILL

 

8/3/2007- At 10:04, just after clearing a commercial fire alarm, Long Hill was dispatched to Main Street & Gisella Road for a motor vehicle accident. Rescue 200, Squad 209 and LH-3 arrived to find a 2 car accident with injuries. Units assisted Trumbull EMS to remove and package 3 patients. One patient was suffering from a moderate head injury and one was having chest pain. Companies also controlled a fluid spill. Units were back in service in under 40 minutes.

 

By the end of the day Long Hill units had run another fire alarm, a small brush fire in the Pequannock Valley, a electrical fire in the food court of Trumbull Shopping Park, and a reported apartment fire at Avalon Gates. (Photo courtesy of M. Eckert)
