. APRIL '07 NEWS
CARBON MONOXIDE POISONING 4/26/2007- At 08:11, Long Hill and Trumbull Center were dispatched to a residence on Oschner Place for smoke in the building. Trumbull Car 1 and Squad 209 arrived and found a backfired furnace with heavy smoke in the residence. Upon further investigation crews found over 1000 PPM of Carbon Monoxide in the house. The resident showed signs of CO poisoning and EMS was dispatched, and the resident was transported to the hospital. Units spent almost two hours on scene ventilating and re-metering the residence.
CAR FIRE ON THE MERRITT PARKWAY OFF RAMP
4/21/2007- At
22:04, Long Hill was dispatched to Route 15 Northbound on the Exit 49 off
ramp for a reported car fire. LH-3 was first on scene and reported a
white mini van with engine compartment well off. Engine 205's crew
extinguished the fire and stood by for the wrecker. LH-4 was also on

MOCK DISASTER TRAINING
4/18/2007- LHFD members were greeted with a surprise mock disaster drill on Tuesday night. Everyone had gotten to their respective stations expecting to do advanced rope work, and were instead greeted with a dispatch from Fire Control requesting the fire department to the Trumbull Mall for a building collapse with workers trapped. Squad 209 was first on scene. Soon after the crew reported a construction worker informed them that 4 workers were unaccounted for. Crews from all 3 stations worked to rescue 4 mannequins that had been placed in the rubble earlier by the construction crews working on site. Lt. Jay Leos and Lt. NOR'EASTER SLAMS TRUMBULL
4/16/2007- The
major Nor'easter that slammed the northeast arrived in Trumbull late
Sunday afternoon. The first storm related call came in around
15:00hrs and from then on the calls did not stop until Tuesday afternoon.
After it was all said and done, Long Hill responded to over 60 calls
ranging from water hazards, fire alarms and smoke scares. Over 140 calls
were answered town wide. Several major roads around the district were also
flooded and had to be closed making travel conditions difficult. (Photo

CAR vs. BUILDING ON TREFOIL DRIVE
4/9/2007- At 12:08, Long Hill was dispatched to the Trumbull YMCA on Trefoil Drive for a reported motor vehicle accident with a car into a building. LH-21 was first on scene, took command, and reported a car into the building with no fluids or structural problems. LH-3 and Rescue 200 were on scene to stabilize the car and await the wrecker.
